Learn in chunks

Learn verbs with their prepositions (depend on, take part in, belong to) and nouns with a typical partner (make a decision, have an advantage). A word without its chunk is only half learnt.

Word families

One root, several words: decide – decision, explain – explanation, responsible – responsibility. Learning the family gives you three words for the price of one.

Use it or lose it

Write one sentence with every new word within the week you learn it. Reading a text and marking the words you know from the list is the best repetition.
