Wofür das simple past

Für alles, was vorbei ist und wo man sagt oder weiß, wann es war: yesterday, last week, in 2015, two days ago. Erzählungen und Berichte stehen im simple past.

Yesterday I went to the park.Last summer we were in Poland.

Regelmäßig und unregelmäßig

Regelmäßige Verben bekommen -ed: play → played, live → lived, stop → stopped. Unregelmäßige Verben haben eigene Formen, die du auswendig lernst: go → went, see → saw, have → had, eat → ate, take → took.

I played. I went. I saw.

Verneinung und Frage mit did

did ist das do der Vergangenheit. Nach did und didn't steht das Verb in der Grundform — die Vergangenheit steckt schon in did. be ist die Ausnahme: was/were, wasn't/weren't, Was he …?

I didn't go.Did you see the film? — Yes, I did.Were you at home?
